Welcome to the M-Five GmbH

Mobility, Futures, Innovation, Economics

M-Five

M-Five is offering holistic research and consulting services in the areas of mobility of the future and economic impact assessments. The two areas are connected by the analysis of innovations to implement sustainable mobility. M-Five experts have key competences in the innovation systems of the different transport modes and the development of alternative futures of mobility. Together with their sound knowledge of societal trends and economic structure they deliver strategic advice to our clients.

The scientific background of our experts enables a systemic approach that integrates know-how about the mobility industries, about the political and technological framework conditions, about the actors and their strategies with the methods of systems analysis and system dynamics modelling. As a result, we deliver strategic recommendations to policy-makers, businesses and NGOs that are based on scientific, qualitative and quantitative reasoning.

MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE – FIFTH-MODE

Mobility will change drastically over the next 5 to 15 years. New mobility concepts as part of the sharing economy, electric mobility, self-driving vehicles and the climate mitigation efforts and awareness will be drivers of this mobility transition.

TRANSPORT AND CLIMATE PROTECTION

The transport sector is responsible for about 25% of European greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Today still 95% of energy used in transport is based on fossil fuels.

Economics

In economics the debate between neo-liberal market-driven concepts and post-keynesian stimulus policy has re-gained momentum with the financial and economic crisis of 2008/09.

Scientific lead

M-Five is running its research and consulting projects under the scientific leadership of Dr. Wolfgang Schade. Wolfgang started his scientific career 1997 at the Institute for Economic Policy Research (IWW, today ECON) at the University of Karlsruhe, which is now the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Team

We are highly qualified scientific team players, system dynamics experts, mobility enthusiasts, sustainability implementers and data freaks. This combination of scientists (m/f) enables us to provide precise consultation from climate protection and economic change to the mobility of the future.

Highlight

Public transport between public welfare and commerce

The project examines the structural change in public transport when it is extended by new mobility services.

Transformation of automotive industry

Our experts have been engaged with the transformation of the automotive industry for a decade, which they first investigated on behalf of the German Bundestag and subsequently wrote the book on the Seven Challenges for the German Automotive Industry (2014).
